The Cedar Trails Partnership is a voluntary, non-profit organization dedicated to improving, maintaining and expanding the recreational trail system and to promoting their safe and enjoyable use. Volunteer opportunities include projects like evaluation of grant applications, organization of Spring trails clean-up, promoting the trails at various sports and outdoor recreation shows, and planning and/or executing the Cedar Valley Trails Festival on August 16-18, 2013.

Dry Run Creek is a 15,177 acre watershed which flows through residential, industrial, and commercial areas including the city of Cedar Falls and the University of Northern Iowa before emptying into the Cedar River. In 2002, a segment of the southwest branch was listed on Iowa’s 303(d) list of impaired waters due to a lack of diversity and abundance of aquatic life. In 2008, the creek received a second impairment designation when it was placed on the 303(d) list for bacterial impairment. Volunteers provide assistance with water quality monitoring, advisory board opportunities, and outreach and education.
