[ARCHIVED] Cedar Falls Receives Tourism Awards
|Cedar Falls has been recognized by the Iowa Tourism Office and Travel Federation of Iowa as the Outstanding Tourism Community of 2014. This award honors a community that has demonstrated excellence in supporting and growing tourism in Iowa over the last year. A recent 37% spike in hotel/motel tax revenue, collaboration with community partners and extensive goal setting were noted in the presentation of the award. This is the third time Cedar Falls has received this recognition. |
|The city was also honored for long-term excellence in tourism industry initiatives and leadership, receiving the Hall of Fame Community Tourism Leadership Award. Consistent performance and leadership in local, regional and statewide projects led to the presentation of the award. “These are both COMMUNITY awards,” stated Kim Manning, manager of the Tourism and Visitors Bureau, “earned due to the quality of experiences offered at our attractions, events and businesses, and the initiatives executed by our staff, partners and the hundreds of volunteers who choose to contribute their time and talents to fostering, promoting, marketing and servicing our community as a quality destination for visitors.” |
