South Main/Greenhill Intersection Improvements
Southern Leg of Greenhill/S. Main Roundabout
Starting Wednesday, July 5th, the City’s contractor, PCI, will be continuing with construction at the South Main Street and Greenhill Roundabout with removals of temporary pavement and replacement of permanent pavement. In order for the contractor to start work, temporary pavement panels will be removed, and the southbound travel lane of the roundabout will be restricted in width during this removal and replacement operation. Short-term closures of this direction in the roundabout may also take place as workers repave this quadrant. Attached is a map of the impacted travel lane.
The restricted width is anticipated to be lifted by Monday, July 10th to vehicular traffic. After Monday, July 10th, crews will continue with other curb, truck apron, and landscaping items in the central part of the roundabout.
At the same time, the contractor will be shifting Greenhill traffic into the middle lanes to complete the NE corner trail/retaining wall and fence and SW corner sidewalk and fence. Once the work along the outside of the roundabout is completed, the traffic pattern with switch to the outside lanes of Greenhill, and the contractor will finish the remaining work inside the roundabout.
Below is a map of the closure area and the planned detour.
Beginning Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022, the contractor will be modifying the traffic pattern at the intersection of Greenhill Road and South Main Street. The traffic pattern will begin utilization of the paved roundabout for southbound S. Main Street traffic and both east- and west-bound Greenhill Road traffic. This change is not anticipated to impact traffic operations during the switch.
The intent of this traffic pattern is to allow the contractor to finish the splitter island curb line on either side of the intersection by closing the inside lanes of Greenhill for room. The temporary 4-way stop at the intersection of Greenhill, Estate, and Coneflower will still be in effect.
Below is a photo of the expected traffic pattern

Beginning on or after Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022, the contractor will begin Stage 3 reconstruction of the Greenhill Road and S. Main Street intersection. In order for the contractor to begin pavement removal, a full road closure of S. Main Street from Greenhill Road to Bluebell Road will be required. The road closure will be in effect while the contractor works on pavement removal, storm sewer, water main, and new pavement on the southern half of S. Main Street & Greenhill Road. The intersection will be a three-way stop controlled intersection, and S. Main Street traffic will be advised to detour using Coneflower Parkway and Bluebell Road. Attached you will find a map with the closure area highlighted.
For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed street. It would be advisable to stay behind the sidewalk on the property side during the reconstruction work.
