Lane Closures - US 20 & IA 58 (Hudson Road) Resurfacing Project

Beginning, Monday, April 24th, 2023, the Iowa DOT’s contractor, Aspro, Inc., will be starting the first stage of the US 20 & IA 58 Resurfacing project. The overall project spans from the City of Hudson to the City of Cedar Falls along IA 58 (known as Hudson Road and South Hudson Road). The project involves the HMA resurfacing and widening of IA 58 along with bridge approach work at the US 20 Bridge. The overall project is anticipated to be complete in late October.

For Cedar Falls residents, impacts for the project will occur during this first stage where impacts to the US 20 and IA 58 (Hudson Road) bridge approach work will be taking place. During the bridge approach work, north- and southbound lanes will be reduced to a single lane capacity on the inside lanes, while crews first work on the outside travel lanes. Then crews will shift traffic to the outside lines, while crews work on the inside lanes. In mid-summer, crews will overlay Hudson Road ending at the north side of the Ridgeway Avenue & Hudson Road intersection.

US 20 & IA 58 (Hudson Road) ramp traffic will be maintained at the interchange for the duration of the project. Detour traffic will be maintained for the IA 27/58 and US 20 interchange project taking place to the East. For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed sections of road. If you have any questions or concerns during the course of construction, please contact Ron Loecher with the Iowa DOT listed below:

Beginning, Monday, April 3rd, 2023, the Iowa DOT’s contractor, PCI, will be starting the first stage of the IA 27/58 at Ridgeway Avenue and US 20 reconstruction project. Work will be split into two overall stages for the IA 27/58 and US 20 interchange. The first stage will be rebuilding the westerly half including the westerly side ramps of US 20, and the second stage will be reconstructing the easterly half including the easterly side ramps of US 20. An overall detour route will be established utilizing Viking Road and Hudson Road. Attached you will find maps with the closure area highlighted.

During this first stage crews will work to establish a crossover on IA 27/58 south of Viking Road with lane closures over the next two to three weeks. Then in mid-April traffic will be placed head-to-head on IA 27/58 in the previous northbound lanes while crews work to remove and rebuild the westerly side of the project in Stage 1. North and Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane on IA 27/58 from Cedar Falls to US 20. The intersection of IA 27/58 and Ridgeway will be kept open, but in a reduced capacity with lane closures. The intersection of Ridgeway Ave. and Nordic Dr. will also be kept open. After the completion of the first two stages, subsequent stages will follow for the work at the intersections of Ridgeway Ave. and Nordic Dr.
