[ARCHIVED] Cedar Falls Resilience Plan Invites Community Participation

The City of Cedar Falls is inviting citizens to share their feedback on the Cedar Falls Resilience Plan through a series of online workshops beginning October 20, 2020.

These workshops are part of an overall process to develop local and creative solutions to put the community in a better state economically, environmentally, and improve the overall quality of life.

The plan focuses on six topic categories. There will be both online self-guided workshops available for all categories throughout the process, as well as scheduled online open door public workshops that will highlight one specific category in turn.

During the open door workshops, members of the Resilience Plan consultant group will be available to offer their input and answer public questions. Each open door workshop begins at 12:00 p.m. on their respective date and lasts for approximately 90 minutes. The public can access workshops by visiting www.cfresilience.com during the appropriate time.

The schedule for the workshops is as follows:

  • Ecology, Land and Habitat: October 20, 2020
  • Water, Weather and Urban Flooding: October 21, 2020
  • Energy, Mobility and Transportation: October 22, 2020
  • Community Cohesion and Civic Services: October 27, 2020
  • Equity, Diversity and Well-being: October 28, 2020
  • Jobs, Business and Economy: October 29, 2020

The self-guided workshops for all six categories will be open to the public October 20 – November 3. Citizens can visit www.cfresilience.com to access the workshops and may participate in as few or as many as they desire.  A 10 to 15 minute recorded presentation is available to view and comment sheets are provided for feedback.

The community can also share their feedback during a public survey, available from September 22 – October 2, at www.cfreslience.com.

The information and suggestions gathered from the collective workshops and survey will subsequently be presented in a virtual Town Hall Meeting on November 10, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. From this, a draft plan will be prepared and is tentatively scheduled for public review and comment by Spring 2021.
