The first weekend in April, Cedar Falls kicks off its first annual street and yard litter cleanup. This specifically aims at removing the small debris like plastic bottles, paper cups, beer cans and lost mittens that collect under the snow mounds and cause our streets and yards to look unsightly. This is not for unwanted household items. Residents are requested to demonstrate their civic responsibility by collecting the litter they find in their yard and in the section of street and alley bordering their property or rental unit. They should then deposit their collection in their own trash receptacles.
Public Works will provide collection bags at the Recycling Center on State Street to individuals or groups that have signed up to collect in areas of heavy public use, such as the schools, College Square Mall, College Hill, and the Downtown area, which carry a greater litter burden. Special drop off sites will be designated. A one-time extra City collection at designated sites only will take place Monday April 6.
