Hearst Center for the Arts Presents Preview Screening from Season 4 of Acclaimed PBS Series Art: 21, Art in the Twenty-First Century
Cedar Falls – The Hearst Center for the Arts will host preview screenings of Protest and Ecology on Thursdays October 4th and 11th at 7 p.m. The screenings are from the fourth season of Art: 21 – Art in the Twenty-First Century, the only primetime national television series to focus exclusively on contemporary art and artists. The screenings are part of Art21 Access ’07 an international celebration of contemporary art and creativity presented in partnership with American for the Arts during National Arts and Humanities month.
Artist and University of Northern Iowa professor, Jeffery Byrd will lead the audience in a discussion following each preview. The October 4th screening of Protest examines the ways in which contemporary artists picture war, express outrages, and empathize with the suffering of others. The October 11th screening of Ecology features artists who address the impact of human activity on the world and question scientific authority and the impact of technology on society.
Season 4 of Art: 21- Art in the Twenty-First Century will premiere Sunday, October 28 at 9 p.m. on PBS, with the remaining three episodes airing over the next three consecutive Sundays. Art: 21 screenings are free and open to the public. For more information, call (319) 268-5501 or visit online at www.hearstartscenter.com.
