The City of Cedar Falls is monitoring river level projections and working on flood preparedness procedures. Currently, the river level is projected to crest Saturday morning in Cedar Falls at 99.8 ft.
The North Cedar Falls Fire Station is open and Public Safety personnel will be assigned to that location through the weekend. Public Safety personnel will be going door-to-door and meeting with residents in northern Cedar Falls that may be impacted by flooding. They are providing informational brochures and providing any other necessary information.
Drinking water for residents in Northern Cedar Falls is available at the North Fire Station. There is a hose on the outside of the building that can be accessed anytime, but residents will need to bring their own containers.
Sand and sand bagging stations for Northern Cedar Falls residents have been located at 2806 Center Street, the corner of Lincoln St. & Leversee Rd, and at the Ice House Museum.
At this point in time, we are not requesting volunteers to help with sandbagging efforts in public areas.
The Recycling Center will be closed later today, as it needs to be elevated to protect it from flooding, residents are being asked to hold their recyclables until later next week.
The North Main Street Yard Waste Facility will be closed until further notice. Curbside yard waste collection will resume every Monday until the facility can be reopened.
