Beginning Tuesday, September 4, a private contractor will be closing Washington Street in Cedar Falls for sanitary sewer work. In order for the contractor to begin pavement removal, a full road closure will be required. Phase 1, Washington Street, road closure will be in effect for one week, depending on the weather. Upon opening of Phase 1, as early as Monday, September 10, the same contractor will begin phase 2 by closing Clay Street in Cedar Falls for additional sanitary sewer work. Phase 2, Clay Street, road closure will be in effect for one week, depending on the weather. For safety's sake, please stay away from the construction area. Heavy equipment will be moving back and forth on the closed street. It would be advisable to stay behind the sidewalk on the property side during the construction work.
